이 회전하는 지구 어딘가에서 누군가가 나와 같은 석양을 바라보고 있다는 것, 우리가 만날 일도 없고 삶이 교차하지도 않을지라도 그것은 이상한 위안이 된다. Vanishing Points는 구글 스트리트뷰의 눈을 통해 먼 풍경의 이미지들을 마주하는 공간이다. 우리 각자가 서로 다른 좌표 안에서 살아가지만, 태양의 움직임과 그것을 바라보는 우리의 행위는 여전히 공유된다는 깨달음에서 출발했다. 종종 그 파노라마 조각들 속에서 주체는 사라져 있다. 프레임 안에는 아무도 없고, 그림자나 글리치, 누군가 서 있었던 자리의 소실점만이 남아 있다. 이 이미지들은 특별한 상실감과 현존감을 불러일으키며, 마치 화면 너머에서 무언가가 우리를 바라보고 있는 듯한 느낌을 준다.

It's a strange comfort to know that, somewhere on this spinning Earth, someone else is watching the same sun setting—though we may never meet, and though our lives never intersect. Vanishing Points is a space for encountering images of distant landscapes through the eyes of Google's Street View. It emerged from the realization that, while we each live within separate coordinates, the sun's movement—and our act of watching it—remains shared. Often, in those panoramic fragments, the subject is missing. There is no one in the frame—only a shadow, a glitch, a vanishing point where someone once stood. These images evoke a peculiar sense of loss and presence, as though something is watching back from behind the screen. The project is a temporary meditation on memory, absence, and the illusion of proximity. The globe, once known to us through paper maps and childhood globes, appears again in digital form—distorted, flattened, yet strangely emotional. By wandering through these virtual thresholds, we not only glimpse other landscapes, but perhaps also reconnect with someone, somewhere, who once watched the same sun.
